Breast Lift

Dr. Peterson is sought out frequently for breast lift surgery. The medical term for this procedure is mastopexy. A woman’s breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes, including loss of skin elasticity, can result from pregnancy, breast-feeding, weight fluctuations, aging and gravity. Heredity may also be a factor. Breasts that have lost their firm, uplifted contours can affect a woman’s self-image and confidence.  

A breast lift raises and firms the breast by removing the excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. Generally, patients will be on a lifting and exercise restriction for 6 weeks. You will be wearing a compression garment for 4 weeks.  Most people can return to work in 1 week on light duty.

Often, augmentation and mastopexy are used in combination when there is significant loss in the size and volume of breast due to pregnancy or weight loss.
